An IMAGEM project has just received the coveted Impact Award from the Brazil SAP Users Association. This prize is given annually to the most successful business case in SAP business solutions. This latest award for an IMAGEM project was given during the recent SAP Forum event held March 9 – 11. The project was awarded for the highly successful business solution implemented at the large electric utility AES-Sul.

With the project title of “Integrated management of electrical assets GIS/SAP: innovation that creates sustainability" the AES Sul project assures synchronization between physical assets in the field (GIS) and the accounting registers (SAP R/3). This success was achieved through integrating SAP NetWeaver platform to corporate systems.

The final product was an integrated solution of construction and maintenance work management of electrical assets in which users can collaborate graphically on electrical projects in SAP R/3 making transparent edits and additions, generating material and services orders; as well as costs estimation. The system keeps the databases physical and accounting assets updated according to electrical regulation.

The award presentation occurred at the SAP Forum ceremony on March 10th. This year, 21 successful cases from several markets were presented as candidates for the Impact Award of Asug Brazil. The judgment committee which included representatives from University of Sao Paulo (FEA-USP), Getúlio Vargas Foundation and Gartner considered three basic criterion evaluations: innovation, return on investment and organization impact. They choose AE Sul Project as the best of these projects.

This is the second time that IMAGEM is recognized by Asug Brazil. In 2007, the organization won the Impact Award with another AES Sul project titled: “R/3 and GIS: two worlds in just one place - NetWeaver Mobile Infrastruture”.
